Outdoor Mixed Martial Arts in Bogenhausen Why martial arts/sports? Combat sports / Martial arts are attracting growing attention from athletes across a variety of athletic disciplines. This is because they uniquely combine physical and mental strength, flexibility, speed, the discipline of daily progress, fat burning, optimal fitness, and self-confidence—all in one practice and in the shortest time possible. Martial arts reply to Shakespearean questionm to be or not to be? Why Old School? What we do in this course is based on a striking truth in the world of sports. If we could theoretically make time travel possible using Einstein’s theory of relativity and decided to pit today’s top athletes in various sports—such as tennis, football, basketball, and more—against those of the 1960s and 70s, the older generations would stand little chance of victory, whether in team or individual sports. However, in the world of martial arts, this ratio is entirely reversed! It is not the Earth that has lost its ability to produce legends like Sugar Ray Robinson, Masahiko Kimura, Helio Gracie, or Ip Man. Rather, it is the mechanization of training and the business-driven, trend-focused mentality that have turned martial arts from a world of physical and mental depth into something far more limited, show-off and superficial. What We Do: In our classes, we take a broad and inclusive approach to combat sports, from Texas ranches to the Shaolin Temple. Our focus is on comprehensive physical and mental conditioning for combat. Throughout this course, no part of the body will be left untouched by training and stimulation. Our goal is to develop both physical and mental capabilities to execute the most effective offensive and defensive techniques in a no-rules Free Fight under stand-up conditions. To achieve this, we emphasize practical foundational concepts from various martial arts, particularly Boxing, Lethwei, Muay Thai, Fencing, and Wing Chun, integrating both technical and non-technical skills training. For footwork, we occasionally incorporate steps from Latin and Swing dances or Ballet exercises to enhance conditioning and preparation. Our technical and workout sessions often include Partner Drills, and in one of our summer classes, we will also introduce Controlled Sparring. Outerwear: Top wear: Anything that is comfortable enough for stretching exercises. Bottom wear: Anything that is comfortable enough for stretching exercises. Just make sure the footwear allows full freedom of movement, especially for your legs and feet.
