🎉🌈 Queer Tango turns 25! In 2001, the first Queer Tango Festival took place in Hamburg, marking the beginning of a movement that spread around the world. Twenty-five years later, we're celebrating—and bringing back our Queer Tango Milonga, this time at Tangoloft. 📅 June 13, 2026 🎥 Film screening | 14:30–16:00 Disitango – un abrazo feminista (2025) – shown in Berlin for the first time! (Spanish with English subtitles) 💃 Milonga | 16:00–20:00 Followed by the traditional Tangoloft Milonga. 🤗 Hosts: Anna Chi & Maria August 🎧 DJ: Maria August (traditional tango) 📍 Tangoloft, Pfuelstraße 5, Berlin 🎟️ €10 / USC + €5 🎬 Film screening: contribution at will 💥 Combined ticket with the evening milonga: €15 / USC + €10 💬 Special guests We've invited two queer dancers who were part of the scene in its early years: Astrid Weiske and Timm Christensen. They'll share some of their memories and experiences from the beginnings of Queer Tango. 🎥"Disitango - un abrazo feminista" is a documentary by Valerie Loewensberg (2025), shot mostly in Argentina. Tango has long been associated with machismo. Yet in recent years, feminism and the LGBTQIA+ movement have been reshaping tango, opening it up to new forms of expression and inclusion. The solemn charm of traditional tango now intertwines with androgynous bodies, and a new freedom emerges—creative, technical, but above all emotional, embracing the diversity and plurality of gender identities.
