Asthanga Yoga in Mitte AṢṬĀṄGA YOGA BERLIN (since 2004) Aṣṭāṅga Yoga Berlin is Berlin’s first and foremost traditional Aṣṭāṅga Yoga Shala. Aṣṭāṅga is taught traditionally 1:1 in small groups, so language is not a barrier if you don’t speak German. All our teachers are super experienced with many years of daily practice and teaching experience. AYB opened in 2004 and has immediately become one of Europe’s main places for studying the lineage of traditional Mysore Aṣṭāṅga Yoga. OUR LINEAGE AYB’s founder and main teacher Grischa has met many senior Aṣṭāṅga teachers including the Jois family. He has become a direct student of Richard Freeman in 2004, combining a deep yet unorthodox understanding of the traditional Aṣṭāṅga Yoga method with a clear approach of modern alignment principles. In addition to the traditional advanced āsana system Grischa teaches all central components of yogic practice including deep prāṇāyāma techniques, meditation, Sanskrit, vedic chanting and yoga philosophy. He is very experienced in helping with Yoga related injuries of hamstrings, lower back, shoulders etc. and a specialist on “hip opening”, safe forward and backbends. Pain comes from incorrect practice. Only. He also offers legendary week long summer practice and teacher intensive retreats with more than 10 hours of yoga per day. The new quiet Shala between Alexander- and Kollwitzplatz features beautiful wooden floors with comfortable underfloor heating, two showers, plenty of private mat storage, a yoga library and the comfortable lounge with free tee every day. You will begin practicing at least 3-5 times a week in the first month (~60-90 minutes), maybe forever. Very soon you will observe profound changes in your practice: You can roll out your mat and practice on your own. Breath and concentration become your ultimate teachers.
The hours of operation are determined by the class times.
M members can participate in a class at Ashtanga Yoga Berlin 4x per month. L members can participate in a class at Ashtanga Yoga Berlin 1x per day. XL members can participate in a class at Ashtanga Yoga Berlin 1x per day.
Requirements for joining the MYSORE STYLE classes: You are experienced in MYSORE STYLE . If you are new you can join the introduction. Therefore you need an L membership. You will begin practicing at least 3-5 times a week in the first month (~60-90 minutes). We only have a limited number of beginner places every week.
